History

Assistance League Theatre was designed by Stiles O. Clements and constructed in 1938. A slight departure from his more notable work as the El Capitan Theater and the Wiltern Theater, Clements was able to create a nostalgic summer stock theater from his native home in New England right here in the heart of Hollywood. The Auditorium was masterfully constructed out of slow growth redwood beams, some of which measure over 25 feet in length. The result is not only a beautiful aesthetic but exceptional acoustics as well. Since it’s completion, the Theatre has been the continual home of the Nine O’Clock Players and the Assistance League's Theatre for Children program.
